Quzhou, May 18, 2023- The opening ceremony of the second phase of SKF Changshan tapered roller bearing and cylindrical roller bearing production base was successfully held today. This is another successful practice of SKF's strategy of "building local capacity and efficiently responding to serve the local market". Upgrading production capacity again, 'chain owners' are making efforts to lead local industrial development
At the opening ceremony, Pan Xiaohui, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Quzhou Municipal People's Congress and Secretary of the Changshan County Committee, pointed out that "Changshan is one of the earliest regions in Zhejiang to develop bearing manufacturing. It not only has a complete industrial supporting system and unique geographical advantages, but also vigorously attracts large and strong enterprises in recent years, focusing on introducing industry leading enterprises to drive the development of the bearing industry chain." SKF has been associated with Changshan for more than 20 years. As early as 1999, SKF's brand Pierre invested in building a factory in Changshan. In 2017, SKF invested in the construction of a production base in Changshan. The first phase of the project was completed and put into operation in 2019, and the second phase of the project was officially launched in 2022. After years of deep cultivation in Changshan, SKF has not only brought more advanced technology and cultivated more talents to the local area, but also driven the development of local bearing forging and machining enterprises, actively playing the role of "chain leader" in the "secondary rise" of Changshan bearing industry chain.
After the second phase project is put into operation, the product types of Changshan base will be further enriched, with the addition of tapered roller bearings and cylindrical roller bearings, and the size range of product processing will be increased to 420mm bearings. A more comprehensive product portfolio and strong production and service capabilities enable Changshan Base to serve many high demand and high demand industries such as commercial vehicles, passenger cars, new energy vehicles, general mechanical transmissions, engineering machinery, agricultural machinery, and medical care in China and even globally, helping China's intelligent manufacturing high-quality products to "go global".

Upgrade the 'circle of friends' and work together with partners to' break through 'more industries
On the day of the opening ceremony, SKF signed a strategic cooperation agreement with two Chinese partners, Jiangsu Fengshang Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. and SEW Industrial Reducer (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., injecting joint force into accelerating high-quality upgrades in more industries through deepening cooperation.
Fengshang is a leading provider of full industry chain solutions for agriculture and animal husbandry in China, and also a long-term partner of SKF. SKF provides stable support for the performance of its key equipment. Both parties are exploring more opportunities for cooperation in the application of existing products and the development of new generation high-performance products, providing comprehensive products and advanced solutions, and continuing to strengthen local supply levels and efficiency.
SEW and SKF have a strong foundation of cooperation worldwide. Based on the common pursuit of product innovation and technological upgrading, both parties will jointly carry out a testing bench project for the application of internal bearings in gearboxes, further strengthening deep technical cooperation in the field of gearbox applications.
Implementing "intelligence" and "cleanliness" to help the manufacturing industry move towards a greener path
In the past few years, SKF has implemented its development strategies of "intelligence" and "cleanliness" in China, and the construction of SKF's Changshan base still follows these two principles. The Changshan Phase I project is equipped with SKF's self-developed RecondOil oil regeneration system. When dual separation technology (DST) regeneration is combined with lubrication management and condition monitoring, oil products can be recycled, achieving a win-win situation in terms of economic and environmental benefits. The first phase of the project has also passed the dual certification of ISO50001 energy management system and "green factory".
In the construction of the second phase project, SKF continues to increase its investment in low-carbon operation in the factory area, actively introducing energy-saving measures such as green electricity and photovoltaics, and significantly improving the level of automation and intelligent manufacturing. While building a "future factory", it effectively promotes the zero carbon process. The second phase project will also better serve green industries such as new energy vehicles, and contribute to China's timely achievement of the goal of "peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060".
The Changshan Phase II project is another example of SKF continuously increasing its investment in China and improving its localization layout strategy. At present, SKF has established a full value chain layout covering production and manufacturing, technology research and development, procurement, and supply chain in China. In the past three years, SKF has successively completed projects such as the first phase of Changshan production base, the first and second phases of Xinchang production base, Wuhu factory, and the third phase of Dalian production base. At the end of this month, the second phase of SKF's Jinan production base project will be officially put into operation, and the third phase of the Xinchang production base project and the fourth phase of the Dalian project are also steadily under construction, which will further consolidate SKF's production capacity in China.
